Week 1 at home

Bringing Oliver home and adjusting to life with two kids has been fun. We have spent LOTS of times indoors due to the below zero temps, but the upside is we've had plenty of time to bond with the new little guy.

One thing we have discovered is that Oliver seems to have a very well developed GI tract. We had to get an ultrasound done on his spine (all testing came back normal) but while getting the test, I had to hold his shoulders and Brett had to hold his hips. The technician moved his diaper to get a full image of his spine and sure enough, he projected poop all over the place....it hit Brett full force along with spraying the tech and all her supplies. Apparently it was a first for that technician, which is kind of surprising.

Maelin has adjusted pretty well. At first she was a bit unsure but has taken more and more of a liking to him. She was excited to take a picture with her to school and show all her friends her new baby brother.

This week its just me, as Brett has headed back to work. I must admit I am happy about this. He took advantage of his time off to get some projects done around the house, it's too bad that almost everything he touched broke and we ended up spending a lot more money than we had hoped.

  • Failed Project 1 (First Expense): Changing the humidifier filter in the furnace room somehow led to water getting everywhere and blowing the circuit board on the furnace. Thank goodness we had heat still, but a whole new circuit board was needed

  • Failed Project 2 (Second Expense): Fixing a drawer on the changing table somehow ended with the drawer in the garbage and a new changing table to arrive this week

  • Failed Project 3 (Third Expense): Flat tire in parking garage (not his fault) but he could not get the spare on.......drove on the rim to the tire place - end result - three new tires for the car.
