Cabo Fun

We left the cold midwest and headed to Cabo for Thanksgiving this year. Traveling and experiencing a vacation through a 2.5 years olds eyes is very very very fun!

Waiting for the train to take us to the airport

Successful flight and super happy to be at the ocean

Nothing better than a little ipad browsing while waiting for mom and dad to go swimming

Finally the WATER!

At our favorite restaurant, Mi Casa, anxiously trying to get the attention of the "balloon man" to make a balloon animal (an obsession)

Still trying - very shy!

Come over here!

FINALLY

So happy she had to dance with it when the mariachi band played

Boat ride to see sea lions and fish

The fish were pretty amazing and the water clear!

Passed out, had enough fun on the boat

Jacuzzi tub, she thought this was pretty fancy (dont get use to it little lady)

Lunch at the Office on the beach

LONG DAY = LONG NAP (note the balloon slept with her)

Scared shitless of the tucan bird (brett looks super nerdo)

Slightly better reaction with a parrot (brett still nerdo)

Loved the beach

Testing the waters

Thinking...should i try or no

And she did, I was proud b/c I would never!

Sea shell collection

And some more shells

Daddy and Maelin on the secluded beach

More pool time

and some more

even more

finally got her out

And another night at Mi Casa (it really is our favorite), this time she got a tiger balloon

The balloon actually made it back to Chicago

SUPER SUPER SUPER SAD to leave

Train back home and pissed, she would not even look at the camera - this is how we all feel after vacation!

House Re-arrangement

This blog really gets put on the back burner when work gets busy!

I am learning that with a growing family comes sacrifices especially in city living. In order to accommodate the new baby, we had to give up our guest room and make it Maelin's room.

After a few too many annoying obstacles which seem to happen with every home project, we finally finished the majority of work (we still need some artwork, drawer knobs, and other misc decorations) Maelin now has her own floor in our house, which is space to her room (which doubles as a playspace) and a bathroom - a pretty sweet set up for a 2.5 year old. Much to our surprise, the move did not cause any sleep interruptions, phew!

Before pictures - the guest room will be missed

After pictures

The trip to Ikea
Same furniture, but with a grey vintage paint applied
New big girl bed
Reading/dressing space
Play area
Lovin' it - playing dress up and reading with her "friends"

Thanks Brett, now onto the nursery :)

Team blue, here we come!!!!

Exciting news, it turns out this new little nugget is a boy! It will be fun to have one of each and see how different / similar they are going to be! Maelin most likely will be in a creative or theatrical field, so maybe this little boy will be less drama and a bit more athletic. She's been asking for a boy since we told her she was getting a baby. When we delivered the news to her she shrieked and then took the ultrasound pictures to show Begley, explaining to him that this is her baby brother. It's pretty cute how excited she is, but I'm not sure she is fully understanding that he is going to be permanent and not just a toy she can stop playing with when she's sick of it.

Potty Training - Failed

Potty Training Failed for the Following Reasons:
  • peed in the yard b/c that is what begley does
  • peed on the couch twice after using the toilet
  • peed in the middle of a restaurant, left a puddle on the floor (SUPER EMBARRASSING)
  • peed in her stroller
  • peed on the living floor
  • peed on Brett (kind of funny)

In summary, since she is not understanding she is different than the dog, thinks peeing on the couch is hilarious, and is not embarrassed about peeing in public; I am going to guess she is not fully ready for underwear. Back to diapers for now.

Aside from cleaning up pee, Maelin and I hit up Disney on Ice. We needed something to do on a very rainy day and ended up getting tickets an hour before the show. She  had a blast and it kept her entertained for a couple hours.

Cannot contain her excitement before the show

Potty Training Days 2 and 3..

Day 2:

An OK day......three peed on outfits when I picked her up from school....she drank a lot because it was 100 degrees outside...I am going to cut the girl some slack

Day two in undies, here we go!!!!'

Day 3:

Lots of improvement. Only one accident, whoo hoo! Next, I think we need to work on Maelin delivering effective 'thumbs up'.....

'Thumbs up for potty training!!!! Doing great on day number 3 of underpants at school!!!'
'Im in my same clothes Mom and Dad! I'm doing a great job potty training! '
'Look Mom and Dad! STILL Same Clothes! :)
