The bug in action

For only being 3.5 months old,  Maelin sure has some busy days......  She arrives at school around 8:30 AM and gets picked up around 6:00 PM. Besides taking numerous naps and eating several bottles, the bug does tummy time, paints, takes walks, has water day and even gets some surprise visitors!

Learning to paint

Another day of paint....

Her first piece of artwork using chocolate pudding titled "Muddy Pig"

An animal trainer visited the kids one day..her first and most likely only encounter with a snake, as I will never be brave enough to have that slimy thing by me and of course we know Brett would never!

As you can imagine, most days she is exhausted when she gets home.  I want to hang out with her so I try and keep her up, but when the girl wants to go to bed, there is no messing with her.....she absolutely knows what she wants when she wants it (not sure where she gets that from).  Her bedroom routine normally starts around 7 (any later and there is a chance of a serious melt down) and consists of bath, bottle, book, bed (the 4 B's).

Might be time for a new tub soon, she looks like a monster

Being patient while I obnoxiously take the picture

In her rocking chair, ready to eat.

3:1 celebration - 3 months and 1 week of full daycare/work

Last week Friday we had a couple celebrations, the first was that Maelin turned 3 months and the second was that we got through a full week of daycare/work.  Some survived the week better than others.  Brett came out on top as he traveled most of the week so he did not have to deal with the chaos of getting out of the house in the morning, etc. As you can see below, Maelin came out on top also; she adjusted very well and is loving her classroom.  I on the other hand ended the week utterly exhausted....my brain hurt from using it too much and my body hurt from the adjustment of not being able to sit on the couch after a long day of work........but thank goodness for take out!

Trying to do some tummy time, but dozing off instead

Awake from a nap

Nature walk......she is one of six babies in the stroller, quite a site to see.

Daycare begins........

When Maelin was 4 months in the womb (I am sure there is a more scientific way to phrase that) we enrolled her on the waiting list at the Goddard School of Early Childhood Development (AKA Daycare). The school was just being built and was scheduled to be complete in January. Much to our luck, the construction of the school had fallen a few months behind schedule and didn't open until May.  This delay forced families who were returning to work earlier to find other child care options, thus opening up some spots. We got the acceptance call mid May and were very happy and relieved we didn't have to start hunting for alternative child care.

Last week we began to "wean" Maelin into the school before I returned back to work full time this week. She participated in two half days and for the most part did very well (she however wasn't a big fan of "tummy time bootcamp").

First day of school photo

I also hung out with Maelin lots last week. It was a hot week so we hit up the toy section of target and got a baby pool. Below documents our fun week.

An early morning walk to get some coffee

All smiles getting ready to swim (Note: the trendy one-shoulder swim suit is compliments of her Aunt Jenny)

She apparently needed a nap before her swim and passed out on the lawn while the pool was warming up (rough day I guess)

A now well rested Maelin lounging in the pool

Brett was behind the camera doing some weird thing.....Maelin is trying to figure out what to think
